Using your breath for labour and birth

Changing the way you breathe can produce dramatic effects on the body. By consciously changing the rate and rhythm of your breath you can influence the involuntary nervous system, initiating the body's natural relaxation response.

Other benefits of conscious breath techniques during labour and birth include: increased oxygenation for you and baby, stimulation of feel-good hormones such as beta-endorphins, and providing a helpful point of focus.

In a Calmbirth course you will learn 3 seperate conscious breath techniques to use at different stages of labour and birth. You will learn healthy breathing habits, and have an opportunity to practice and troubleshoot conscious breath techniques so you feel confident and comfortable to use your breath to your advantage!

Conscious breath techniques continue to be advantageous for your health and wellbeing long after baby is born. Used together with modalities such as meditation and yoga, breath techniques have been shown to have significant health impacts.
